FC Locarno is a historic club that represents the city of Locarno as well as the Italian region of Southern Switzerland. Over its 100-year history, the club has played several seasons in the top-tier of Swiss football. In 2018, the club went bankrupt and was forced to restart from the ninth tier of Swiss football. The club has experienced a resurgence in recent years, winning four consecutive promotions. The club is currently in the fifth tier and is well-positioned to continue climbing the pyramid in the coming years.
